Could a 1990 Honda Accord DX that will not start but the engine will rotate be an ignition coil problem or the timing belt broken?

take off distributor cap have someone turn engine over briefly, if rotor on top of distributor turns timing belt is ok if not it's broken.

AnswerCould be a bunch of other stuff too...distributor caps on Hondas are a pain to remove so take the valve cover off instead. Then check for spark, fuel, make sure you've got gas...

ANSWER:

This solution may be a little too obvious for some people, but consider removing the two 10 mm bolts that hold the plastic cover on top of the driver's side of the cylinder head, remove the cover, and look at the actual timing belt to see if it's broken.

Call your local parts store, or AutoZone and ask if they are able to test your ignition module if you bring it in.
