Why is your guppies fish eyes swelling up and turning jet black?

When a tropical fish turns dark or black it usually means it has become blind. Most fish adapt in some way to their background so that they blend in better and avoid being eaten. A blind fish, seeing nothing but darkness often will change its color to reflect this darkness becoming darer in color or black.
