Do you feel that a relationship may have been existed between harsh frontier lifestyle of the pilgrims and the strict moral code they followed in the movie Scarlet letter?

They came over to America to be able to practice their strict moral code. Since the Scarlett Letter took place not too long (a generation?) after their arrival, probably not too much of their moral edicts had changed. Certainly they had strict and exacting interpretations that they carried out.
