Do dolphins substitute hearing for another sense?

A dolphin uses echolocation which is an advanced form of SONAR to "see" things under water. They can see quite well with their eyes above water. It's not really a substitution per se, but an enhancement of the hearing faculty to adapt to underwater conditions.
