How long before planting an Epiphyllum cutting will it bloom?

We were given a leaf, planted it in compost with rooting powder, kept it in the conservatory, first flowers appeared in the fourth year. We have done the same many times since, we once got one to flower in the third year. Put it in a big pot, don't get it rootbound, keep moist, tomato food once a month, that's it.

you need to use bloom fertilizer high in the second and third numbers.
