How do you locate life insurance company if you don't know what the name is?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. I am assuming that you know a life insurance policy has been taken out with you as a beneficiary but you do not have any paper proof, etc. so you are not sure which company it is. If this is your situation, you may be able to find some information by checking the deceased person's check books, credit card receipts which may indicate premiums paid to an insurance company.
