How to match wheels to a car?

Need to know the bolt pattern, (for example 5 on 4.5", or 5x114.3mm) and the back spacing ( the distance from the back of the mounting flange to the rim lip in inches/MM some rims have it cast on the back), this is important so that the wheel doesn't hit the suspension or body when the wheel is turned.
