Did the Catawba cross the trail of tears?

The Catawba Nation was not directly involved in the Trail of Tears, which primarily affected the Cherokee and other tribes in the southeastern United States during the 1830s. The Catawba people, originally from South Carolina, had already experienced significant displacement and loss of land prior to this event.
