The police can testify in court against a suspect on trial with their testimony of an incident. In terms of the court itself, police generally do not partake in court services, but sheriff departments of a county can serve subpoenas, act as bailiffs, carry out "fix-it" ticket inspections, and act on judge's orders requiring enforcement.
