Are cats more popular than dogs as pets?

A cat is a popular pet, but people tend to like dogs better. Think about it, you can take a dog out for a walk, but your cat can only go out hunting in your neighbourhood or garden. And as everyone says: A dog is a man's best friend!!!:)
