Are sponges scavengers

Sponges are not classified as scavengers; instead, they are filter feeders. They obtain nutrients by filtering water through their porous bodies, extracting bacteria, plankton, and organic particles. While they can help recycle nutrients in their environment, they do not actively seek out or consume dead organic matter like scavengers do.
