There are a few ways to get diagnosed.

You can have a blood test done if you don't have a break out but you should wait about 6-8 weeks after being exposed to herpes to have it done. Getting the blood test done too early can give you false results.

A viral culture of a sore or blister can be taken during a break out and sent to be tested for herpes.

You should talk to your doctor, let them know what happened and they can make suggestions as to how to test you.
