How do you take care of a Maltese dog for 6 months?

Well, they need the simple pet care, food, water, exercise, and love. But in the puppy stage, they can be hard to potty train. They are more of a indoor dog, they don't need that much exercise, but a couple walks a week work. Maltese are agile dogs, so that means they can jump, run, leap, etc. well. I would suggest a well covered cage for them.
