Why franking is bad?

Franking, or the practice of allowing politicians to send mail at government expense, can be seen as problematic because it may lead to the misuse of public funds for political gain, allowing incumbents to communicate with constituents while campaigning without incurring costs. This can create an uneven playing field, disadvantaging challengers who lack similar resources.
