The main reason is to attract pollinators. For example, bees are strongly attracted to yellow and blue, whereas hummingbirds are strongly attracted to red especially, but also to pink, yellow, orange and purple. When the pollinators are able to find, and then visit, the flower, they will help to transfer pollen from one flower to the next, allowing pollination to occur.
