When did Muhammad receive his later revelations?

Muhammad received revelations from time to time, in bits and pieces, over the course of twenty three years. Sometimes whole chapters would be revealed (as in the chapter called Joseph) which were long. Most times it would be shorter parts revealed in response to something happening around the Muslims. In the earlier years they were short, full chapters, that were revealed. Those can be found in the last maybe 80 or so chapters of what is the Qur'an.
