Why did Adam Ant break up with Clare?

He was with her for 7 years, and during that time, he was taking medications with bad side effects - he didn't even have sex during those 7 years!

I'm guessing that he wanted to make his comeback, but he felt like he was being held back. It's possible Clare broke up with him because of the decisions he made.
