Where is Durmstrang located?

JK Rowling herself said she pictured Durmstrang in either the northernmost areas of Norway or Sweden, but given the description Krum gave Hermione at the Yule Ball, Norway is the country that fits the description most. Possibly near the boarder of Russia.
