Whom does Bruno find in his kitchen?

In "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne, Bruno finds a boy named Shmuel in his kitchen. Shmuel is a Jewish prisoner who is on the other side of the fence separating Bruno's home from the concentration camp.
