The book "Rusty- The boy from the hills" is About a Boy who lives with his grandparents in their ancestral bungalow at Dehradun. Rusty has to deal with his grandfather's pet python, who eats up Rusty's pet squirrel and one day falls in love with its own reflection. He also has to put up with his uncle Ken who imitates a famous cricketer in a bid for an easy lunch and saunters off when he gets out. Soon after, Rusty visits his father in
Java, narrowly escapes enemy bombardment and gets lost at sea after a plane crashes, and surprisingly survives the ordeal. Back in Dehradun Rusty spends time by making friends with local children and having fun. One day something very unexpected happens and Rusty is forced to leave Dehradun probably forever.
