Wavy top shells, also known as Lottia subrugosa, obtain food through a process called grazing. They use their radula, a unique tongue-like structure with tiny teeth, to scrape algae and other organic material off rocks and surfaces in their intertidal habitat. This feeding method allows them to efficiently consume the biofilm and algae that grow in their environment. Additionally, they are known to feed during low tide when they are exposed to the water.
