Is it safe for a puppy to eat crane flies?

It will depend on the dog, you'll find many people saying no with Labradors etc but we have a real problem with them in our area and our pug has been sick a lot :( they do have traditionally weak stomachs.

There's a fair bit if impractical advice on the 'net, my best efforts so far have been a clearing up spree before letting him out to pee in the morning (when the bugs tend to be around in force) or as and when I see them in the garden. I'll come back here if we find a good and safe pesticide or some activity that works really well!
