Why did Peter bring the Die Frie Danske in Number the Stars?

Peter bring the De Frie Danske because Annemarie's Mama and Pa want to keep up-to-date on what is happening with the Germans. This is to keep their family safe, and to help aid Ellen's family in escaping.
