How are Swedish laws passed?

Swedish laws are passed through a legislative process involving the Riksdag, Sweden's national parliament. Proposed laws, known as bills, can be introduced by government ministers or members of parliament. The bills go through several readings, including committee reviews and debates, before being voted on. If a bill receives a majority vote in the Riksdag, it is then signed into law by the monarch, although this is largely a ceremonial step.
