I ran out of furnace oil but now have oil in my tank and when I press the reset button the furnace only goes through start up and there is no ignition and no heat?

The oil filter probably needs changing after sucking up all the gook at the bottom of the tank, after that the filter can and fuel lines will need to be bled of air. The reset you are pressing is the flame failure safety because not enough fuel is getting to the nozzle for proper ignition. In addition, once you do all this and get it going you may have a smoky mess for awhile. At the first restart, depending on how many times you reset the flame failure control, the fire box has unburned fuel sprayed all over the inside it and once the burner lights, that fuel has to burn off and Ive seen some ugly ones.-Good Luck
