If you have plans to become a nurse, then you may have wondered how you can get some practical on the job training to prepare you for your exciting career. Many nurses report that they did not think that the time they spent in the classroom the first year or two of their nursing education was productive. They would have rather been working side by side with other nurses and doctors in the hospitals.
If you would like to learn from these mistakes and get more practical training before you become an RN, then you may have to get your education in an unconventional manner. The best way to go about this is to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
The great thing about an LPN degree is that you can start practicing medicine far quicker than if you were to solely go after your RN degree. An LPN degree takes a fraction of the time required to complete an RN degree. After you get your LPN, you can get paid work in a hospital. Although you won’t be getting paid nearly as much as an RN, at least you’ll essentially be getting paid RN training.
While you are getting this paid training, you can continue studying for your RN degree in your spare time. If you choose to take advantage of this method, then you might want to pursue your RN degree online. This will give you a lot more flexibility in your coursework, and it won’t interfere with your work schedule at the hospital.
Furthermore, your RN coursework will be a breeze, because you’ll have your practical knowledge and experience to draw upon. While your classmates are scratching their heads, you will be flying by them with nearly perfect scores on your assignments and tests.
When you finally get your RN degree, you’ll be able to land the best job in your class. You will not only have the highest grade point average, but you will also already have two or more years of real experience as an LPN. If you want to increase the odds of your success and get some real RN training, then you should pursue an LPN degree.
