How do you apply permanent hair dye?

Mix according to the package directions. Use the plastic gloves, for the dye will stain any part of skin that is not covered. Get some petroleum jelly and put it on your forehead, ears, and nape of the neck to avoid the inevitable staining of these areas.

Apply from the mixing bottle to the roots of your hair first, then "work" it all the way to your ends. It is best to use a wide toothed comb to get the entire area done. One tip is to forego any caffeine products if your scalp is sensitive as caffeine makes the scalp more sensitive to the peroxide in the product.

If this is the first time that you have done hair dye, mix a couple of drops of the product and do a patch test. This will determine if you are allergic to the product. While most people are not, there are a very few who are. The directions for this test are in the package.
