Talk to a doctor (not a quack) and he will tell you that your weight is related to your 'caloric intake', in other Words: how much energy is in the food you eat or drink. Eat more than you spend and you gain weight, spend more than you take in and you lose weight.

Subconsciously your body knows how much calories are in that glass of water you drink (none) and so it does not adjust your hunger feelings after drinking a glass of water. Just drinking a glass of water will not magically make you lose weight, you will just pee a glass more. You need to change your behavior wrt your diet and exercise if you really want to lose weight, and that is hard. The easy way out is just to stop worrying and be happy enough with your own body.
