The Khoikhoi traditionally lived in movable dwellings known as "matjieshuis," which were constructed using a framework of wood and covered with mats made from grass or reeds. These structures were typically circular or oval-shaped, allowing for easy assembly and disassembly as they were a nomadic people. Additionally, they sometimes used more permanent dwellings made of stone or wood when they settled in one place for longer periods.
