How do you become a National Geographic explorer?

The National Geographic and the Explorer"s Club are two separate entities- true there is an Explorer"s hall ( In washington) with various artifacts of expeditions-and this is sponsored by the NGS. sorry, no openings right now, Mr. Horn, by the way was never a member, nor was Ripley.
