What is the importance of pursuing a Global Economy?

Studying globalization is important because as the world becomes more and more interconnected, there are serious implications and consequences for people all around the world. While some benefit from globalization, others pay a heavy price for it. Many argue however that globalization results in more "winners" than "losers" and is hence a good thing.
