What does a pet snake have in its cage?

Essential vivarium items include... a water bowl, suitable substrate, adequate heat source (especially for tropical species), and somewhere to 'hide' if the snake wants to have some 'privacy'.

You can also include items with rough surfaces - such as rocks or large pieces of cork bark. This will give the snake something abrasive to help it when it is going through the shedding process.
