Hopefully the tree's weight is centered for the most part or heavy in the direction you want to fall it. If so then you would first cut out a chunk of the tree by making a cut paralel to the ground, on the side that you want the tree to fall. The cut should go about half way through the tree. Then make a diagonal cut at about a 30 to 45 degree angle and remove the chunk. Then from the opposite side of the tree make another cut just above the first one, again make it paralel. By the time the saw gets close enough to the missing chunk the tree should fall on its own. I've seen people try to help direct the fall using ropes to pull it the direction they want, but never used them myself. cut half way through tree on side where you want it to fall then move up and make another cut eight inches above first cut angle down cutting to the back of first cut which cuts out a notch then cut tree on back side of cut out notch when tree starts to lean yell timber and get the hell out of the way
