Does captain crunch really cut up the roof of your mouth?

Captain Crunch's notoriety for cutting up the roof of your mouth seems to be nonsense to some, and yet a complete and utter reality to others. It seems that those who chew cereal (especially if they like "crunchy" cereal) by using their upper palate(the roof of their mouth) can and do get minor abrasive "cuts" on this area. Other cereals that are known for this are Fruity Pebbles and Honey Comb.
