All drugs can be harmful to health, even the legal ones. If you took too much of a vitamin it could cause health problems or if you took too much aspirin it can cause problems as well. In the 1920's it was noticed that certain drugs were addictive and affected people in many ways, so a list was developed of illegal drugs and laws passed. The fallacy that pot doesn't affect the body is just that, not true. You put anything in your body and it WILL affect the body. Pot DOES damage areas of the brain, damages the lungs and heart, does cause cancer, and other body areas. I have a movie on drugs and the brain made by the Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston ( I am a drug education teacher) and it shows brain scans of drug users. In an healthy brain the scan shows a nice blue color, but in a brain of a drug user ( including pot users) the scan shows holes in the brain. The holes show because those areas of the brain are not getting blood and are not healthy so the scan shows those as holes. It also shows users that are weekend users and long term users with holes in the brain. Cocaine causes a disconnect between the brain and the message for the heart to keep beating. This is one reason that cocaine users often have heart attacks. A few years ago there was a promising Basketball player who had gotten picked for a pro team with a million dollar contract, so he celebrated that night with one shot of cocaine and died of a heart attack. If anyone tells you that drugs don't do anything to you stop and think before you use because it could mean life or death, and holes in your brain.
