What fault caues earthpuakes?

Earthquakes are primarily caused by the movement of tectonic plates along faults, which are fractures in the Earth's crust. When the stress on these faults exceeds the strength of the rocks, they slip, releasing energy in the form of seismic waves. This sudden release of energy is what we perceive as an earthquake.
