Who was the Governor of Maryland in 1957?

J. Millard Tawes (born May 8, 1894 in Crisfield, Maryland; died June 25, 1979 in Crisfield, Maryland) succeeded Theodore R. McKeldin as the fifty-fourth Governor of Maryland, serving between January 14, 1959 and January 25, 1967, including the whole of 1961.
