To remove the husk, or outer covering, from an ear of sweet corn, grasp the silks at the tops between thumb and forefinger of both hands, then quickly pull apart in opposite directions. The husk will rip and pull away from the ear, though one side usually stays kind of stuck to it. Just continue the process till you have removed all of the husk, then gently (a small brush helps) rub off any remaining silks.
