Why have some historians rejected the labels BC and AD for periods in world history?

Some historians have rejected the labels BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini, Latin for "in the year of our Lord") due to their Western-centric and religious connotations, which may not accurately reflect the diverse perspectives of global histories. They argue that these terms can alienate non-Christian cultures and fail to encompass the complexities of historical narratives beyond the scope of Christianity.
