The United Arab Republic (UAR) was a political union between Egypt and Syria that existed from 1958 to 1961. Stamps issued during this period featured the UAR designation. However, after Syria's withdrawal from the union, the UAR name was primarily associated with Egypt, which continued to use it on stamps until it was phased out in favor of the name "Egypt."
