Who is more famous Beethoven or Sonic the Hedgehog?

Fame is transitory and often a purely a local, cultural or generational phenomena. Who or what is famous at any given time or for any group of people will change.

Characters, real or fictional, may be considered famous by a given group of individuals and be completely unknown to a different group.

Those groups may be of different ages for instance, or widely separated geographically. It may be purely cultural.

Enduring famous figures may be such icons as Jesus or Mohammed, they may be monarchs, presidents etc.

Pop idols or cartoon characters seldom survive beyond a decade or so.
