Can drinking water come from the ocean?

i know two ways to drink ocean water:

1st way: you can put it under the sun, and when it evaporates, you capture it. you won't get the salt because salt doesn't evaporate.

2nd way: you first get a cup and a filter. u can dump the water and salt together into the filter with the cup underneath. since there are holes in the filter, the water will seek through but the salt will stay behind because the holes are like microscopic. once all the water gets through, you will be left with only fresh unsalted water in the cup.(well, only if something happens or you do it wrong)heehee. but I'm sure that won't happen.
