Note: This is for the MLA format, so you might want to check the ALA style out on the web.
1) Be sure to use quotation marks. 2) Copy the Words exactly as they are, unless you need to insert Words to help the quote to make sense-- then you would add square brackets, like this:
"[The book is] an awesome read!"
3) Put the first one/two Words of the bibliographic entry inside parentheses along with the page number, like this:
"Roosevelt was no medical researcher" (Marrin 180).
4) Notice how the period comes after the second parenthesis-- that's what we call a parenthetical citation.
