Are there different types of wedding planning jobs?

Yes. For people who want to be involved in wedding planning, but want the security of a regular paycheck with benefits, catering sales is an option. Catering salespeople frequently work for hotels or other venues that host weddings. Unlike Wedding Planners, who work on fee or commission, they are paid by a regular employer. Catering salespeople work closely with the bride and her family to create a memorable event. Some specialize in weddings, others also handle showers, christenings, and award dinners. There's no official credential to be a Catering salesperson (also called a Catering Manager), but a 2 or 4 year college degree is helpful. And, of course, tact, communication and good people skills are essential!
