First of all, lemurs do not dance. The dancing lemurs in the movie Madagascar (and sequels) are anthropomorphic representations of lemurs... meaning they are fictional, animated lemurs given human qualities.

Verreaux's Sifaka do hop when they are on the ground, as do all sifaka species. They are considered "vertical clingers and leapers", and with their long legs and short arms, it's easier to hop than to run on all four legs. When they hop, they usually hop from side-to-side rather than forward.

Ring-tailed Lemurs do not hop like sifakas. They are quadrupedal (walk on 4 legs). I have seen them hop forward on their hind legs, though. They were trying to keep an eye on the lemurs in front of them, and by leaping forward with the head held up they were able to see over the tall grass. However, this is not a common occurrence.
