Why should trees not be planted near underground water pipes?

[Well Im not really sure about my answer but ill try to give it my best shot ok.

Trees shouldn't be planted near under water pipes because plant roots can grow into

cracks in the pipes and cause more larger cracks and slowly break it apart.]
