There can be no such thing as a "best" projector. There are many on the market and all have particular features that make them ideal for certain situations more than others.
The two main types of projectors are LCD and DLP. LCD models work in a veryu similar way to an LCD television. A light source behind the liquid crystal panel is allowed to pass through red, green and blue filters in varying levels to create a complete color picture.
DLP uses a transparent rotating disc that passes different color light as the disc rotates. Using mirrors to reflect the light towards the lens generates an image. Fans of DLP claim that the color fidelity of DLP is better than LCD and they are possible correct. It does depend on the color wheel and the way it is driven.
Either choice can work well and your own opinion of the best image is really important if you are about to buy one.
Additionally, look for one that is the right budget, the right size, the right projection distance and the right brightness. Make sure it has the inputs you need and also that it can be controlled by a theater control system if you are planning on using one.
Make sure the projector can be mounted where you need it - front or rear of the screen, high level or low level. Can you change the lens to cope with a particularly long or short projection distance? If the projector is in the room with you, how noisy it is?
There are a lot of questions to ask. If you start with those listed above, you will quickly reduce your list to a very short one. If you still have specific questions, ask again here and you should expect to get more specific answers.
Finally, spend time to find your ideal model and have fun doing it.
