I HAVE TO HAVE THIS MEMORIZED FOR MY JOB, so I'll tell you how to always remember it, and be able to do it in your head and rattle it of faster than a doctor or a nurse!!! Base everything on a standard little plastic "med cup", (like the ones that come on top of childrens liquid meds and also cough syrups). All medical facilities have these med cups to dispense liquid meds and to put pills in. NOW, just memorize the following: (1) ONE MED CUP = 30 cc (or 30 ml; same thing) OR 2 tablespoons, OR (1)one ounce OR 6 teaspoons. Also memorize that each 5ml = 1 teaspoon. Once you jam that in your head, you will ALWAYS be able to figure out doses, amounts and mg's. EVERY liquid med tells you on the label how many mg's are in each ml (cc). So, in your case, there is 12.5 mg/5 ml (read:contains twelve 1/2 milligrams for each five liquid mililiters). SO, if you give 2 tsp. (10 ml's), you will be giving 25 mg's. Hope this helps. ANYONE who ever gives out medication should memorize the above. Once you do, it's easy (OR you can MAKE it look easy!!). <<<ADR>>>
