What does cat mint do?

Cat mint, commonly known as catnip, contains a compound called nepetalactone that can induce a temporary euphoric reaction in many cats. When cats smell or chew on catnip, they may exhibit behaviors such as rolling, rubbing, and playful antics. The effects typically last for about 10 to 15 minutes, after which the cat may become temporarily immune to its effects.
