(For televisions)

Aspect ratio is the ratio of the width of the television screen to the height.

TVs do not have taper ratiOS.

(For airplanes)

Aspect ratio is a ratio of the wing span squared to the wing's reference area. This gives you a sense of how thin/slender a wing will appear from the top view of the aircraft. High aspect ratio means a long/extended wing.

b² / S

("b" is wing span, "S" is wing area)

Taper ratio is the ratio of the wingtip's length to the wing root's length. This gives you a sense of the angle the shape of the wing. High taper ratio means a triangular shaped wing.

t/r

("t" is length of the wingtip, "r" is length of wing's root)
